The Forensic Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the implementation, coordination, maintenance and compliance of the Center’s quality management system.

HIRING SALARY: $80,579 – $105,601 (Estimated Annual Salary)

Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of functions.)

Oversees, monitors, and maintains the quality assurance program to meet the appropriate international and supplemental accreditation requirements.
The incumbent will act as a liaison between management and the pertinent entities to enact accreditation compliance and respond to assessment findings while coordinating remediation initiatives.
Reviews policies, procedures, accreditation criteria, laboratory conformance, potential quality issues and non-conformances, standard operating procedures, current and proposed laboratory procedures, laboratory safety issues and other miscellaneous quality functions.
Ensures laboratory personnel, employee training, certification, technical and quality records are appropriately maintained.
Monitors laboratory practices to verify continuing compliance with policies and procedures.
Acts as lead assessor during internal audits of laboratory operations against accreditation standards as needed and performs annual review of the quality system.
Administers and maintains the proficiency testing program in the laboratory.
Implements and maintains the calibration program for all laboratory equipment.
Maintains casework competency, technically and administratively reviews casework to ensure that established laboratory procedures are used to form the basis for scientific conclusions.
Serves as alternate administrator for laboratory information and document management systems.
Performs other duties or assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduate Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology or a Forensic Science related area preferred.
Undergraduate Degree or equivalent in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology or a Forensic Science related area required.
A minimum of five years of professional experience in an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) accredited forensic science laboratory.
A minimum of one year experience in a lead capacity overseeing quality activities of professional forensic science laboratory personnel.
Coursework to meet the FBI Quality Assurance Standards (QAS) for an analyst preferred.
Training in ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation standards and completed internal/external assessor training preferred.
Successful completion the FBI QAS auditor training preferred.
Certification by the American Board of Criminalistics (ABC) preferred.
Membership in the Association of Forensic Quality Assurance Managers (AFQAM) preferred.
