Title: Forensic Drug Chemist
Description: This position is responsible for the chemical analysis of suspected controlled substances within an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. The position establishes and updates technical procedures, performs regular calibrations on equipment and instrumentation, and schedules and documents preventative maintenance on equipment and instrumentation. The position utilizes specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation to include- Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer/Gas Chromatograph, Infrared Spectrometer, Liquid Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer/Mass Spectrometer, and Time of Flight Liquid Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer. The Forensic Chemist is integral for the prosecution of those involved in the violation of NC and federal controlled substance regulations. This position testifies as an expert witness in court. This position is required to complete annual proficiency tests and to obtain and maintain a Diplomate status certification/membership through the American Board of Criminalistics within two years of the date of eligibility for certification. This position is required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and is subject to random continuing drug screenings as a condition of continued employment.
