Forensic DNA Analyst wanted
Scales Biological Laboratory, Inc. (SBL), a private ISO 17025:2005 accredited DNA testing facility that specializes in forensic, human identity, and relationship testing and is located in Brandon, Mississippi USA is seeking a forensic DNA analyst.
The ideal candidate will meet the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Quality Assurance Standards (QAS) for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories personnel standards which includes a bachelor’s (or its equivalent) or an advanced degree in a biology-, chemistry-, or forensic science-, related area and shall have successfully completed course work (graduate or undergraduate level) covering the following subject areas: biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology; and course work and/or training in statistics, and/or population genetics as it applies to forensic DNA analysis. If you do not meet these minimum requirements, please do not apply. No experience is necessary as training will be provided; however, the ideal candidate will have initiative, be a people person, and be able to testify to DNA results and interpretations in public criminal and civil trials.
Salary will be commensurate and negotiable with degree and experience. Here are some salary guidelines: BS degree with no experience $35,000-40,000/yr. and MS degree with no experience $45,000-50,000/yr. Currently, benefits include paid vacation and sick leave. There are no additional benefits; however, this could change or be part of the salary negotiations. Future benefits could also include training in some other areas of forensic science, and advancement.
