Forensic Chemist 2 – Controlled Substances
This is a technical position in the Department of Public Safety, County Crime Laboratory responsible for conducting laboratory tests and procedures for the examination and analysis of controlled substances or chemicals gathered as evidence. Duties include preparing and presenting findings in written reports and serving as an expert witness in court. Work involves the use and maintenance of sophisticated modern laboratory instruments. All work is performed in accordance with Federal and State accreditation requirements and departmental procedure manuals and guidelines. This position differs from Forensic Chemist III – Controlled Substances in that it handles more complex examinations and cases, and has increased independence. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of, a Forensic Chemist I – Controlled Substances, or other higher level staff member. Does related work as required.
